How many times have you heard that most viruses come from the Porn sites. Well thats not necessarily true. You can Viruses from any heavily visited and not well protected sites Like Myspace or Facebook, or my Favorite Ebay.

There are ways to protect yourself for less money then going out and buying anti-virus products

In my opinion, paying maybe 40$ a year for functioning/legal/non-cracked anti-virus software isn't that big of a deal.

I value the content of my harddrive enough so I feel making such an annual investment is actually worth the money rather than just gambling with no software or using second-rate/questionable/cracked software.
Merry Christmas

Had to say that first lol.

Well that is feasible for you and many others, If I ma reading this right. You seem to have an issue with "second-rate" or Free software. well see I believe that there are alot of free versions of their counterparts Avast, Avg, and Now Nod32.

Also I believe that along with good software and Common Sense! LOL

If you don't know, ask somebody and there are tons of people on the net that will gladly lend a ear

@prevo for that bit of advice Smile

again my apologies for the late response

I never use(and especially pay for) anti-virus programs. After having to reinstall my OS's more times than I can count due to getting viruses that anti-virus programs will not get rid of. I've tried all the big names, Norton, AVG, Kaspersky, Webroot, BitDefender, and on and on. All of them failed me. I no longer use any anti-virus progs now and I have only been infected a couple of times in the last five years, (verses the once a month I used to deal with)

For that $40 a year I bought a whole second hard drive that I keep all my content on. I got my hands on a program that creates a custom boot disc that already has the programs I used installed on to it. So instead of spending a whole day trying to rid my PC of a virus, I just wipe it clean and re-install everything back to the way I originally had it in just an hour.

I have come to realized the truth, it's the anti-virus companies making the viruses in the first place. They create the problem, so you'll pay them for the cure. It isn't just the obvious rougue anti-malware programs like the one Myspace is infected with. The only difference is the anti-virus programs aren't the actual virus that nees to be removed, like the rougue ones. The only thing I use now is malwarebytes Free edition. It's the only program that has ever rid my PC of problems for free, it even got stuff the other guys wouldn't find.

Now for the rest of us mere mortals who are not that tech savvy. I will agree Malwarebytes is a very Anti-spy ware program. there are some many ways to avoid as there are to Get viruses and spy ware. Again Common Sense. also don't use I.E. explorer without protection. feel free to ask anybody who have had a computer over the years and ask what they did to avoid the issues
I've had no trouble for over 2 years since using AVG(free) and Spybot.
That is cool also since AVG AVAST and Nod32 are like related somehow. one of those three and spybot, spywareblaster, and now Malwarebytes and superantispyware.

But I can not stress enough these are good but common sense can and will help prevent PC issues
